Years back, I was caught in a Paris rain storm (much like today's DC downpour!), but a miracle happened... the storm started just as I was passing by the most gorgeous umbrella store, Madeleine Gély. My Paris souvenir was a beautiful umbrella, which without the storm, I never would have splurged on! Over the years, it remains one of my favorite travel purchases. Sometimes the practicality of the moment, leads to a lovely and timeless buy.
