In My Library... This Is Where I Leave You
I'm sure that I'm a little late to the game on this, but "This Is Where I Leave You" is such an amazing book!
While I was traveling, I couldn't put it down and it was finished by the time our plane landed.
With one last "official" weekend of summer left, if you need a beach book I completely recommend this quick-witted 7 days with the Foxman family. Dysfunction never read so well.
Sparkly Things... Chan Luu
Back in February, my boyfriend went to Telluride to ski and visit family just as I was starting a new job... so sadly I missed the trip! But being the amazing guy he is, he brought me back a gorgeous Chan Luu mixed turquoise wrap bracelet.
I love it... and while we were out there these past few days, I had the good fortune of checking out more of Chan Luu's beautiful pieces (and so much more) at Telluride's amazing jewelry store, Dolce.
And check out more Chan Luu love over at the fabulous Hip,Hip, Gin, Gin!

So I've Been Missing...

Prippy Vroooom...
So... I saw this car over the weekend, looping around Lincoln Park where Scrapple and I were taking a stroll. Gotta say, it stopped me dead in my tracks!
A Lily Jeep? Could it be?
Yes indeed!
Oh, and for us less committal to making that big a statement, there's also a Lily bike.
Fall is creeping into the air, but summer ain't over yet... rock your Lily, ladies and gents!

Prippy Viewing... Baby Boom
One of my favorite movies growing up was "Baby Boom," starring Diane Keaton as a New York workaholic who inherits a baby.
I loved her character's get-up-and-go attitude of starting a gourmet baby food business from her new country home. I guess entrepreneurial spirits appealed to me at a young age!
While this movie is a classic, I think a lot of folks can still relate to the life choices made with moving out of the city to the country for simple living.
Have you guys seen it?

Prippys of Influence... Van Leeuwen Ice Cream
I miss NYC... and I extra miss the Van Leeuwen Ice Cream truck!
Not only is their handcrafted ice cream absolutely delicious, but they are the cutest entrepreneurs ever. I draw so much inspiration from small business owners, don't you?
They recently opened their first shop in Brooklyn, so stop by and grab a cone if you're in the area... and keep your peepers open for their truck!

Happy Weekend...
Saturdays are just the best... don't think you think?
I just got back from the driving range in DC. We're so lucky that our public golf course has views of the monuments (in addition to cheap beer!)!
On Monday, I'm playing in my first golf tournament... and I just started playing about 2 months ago. So needless to say, I'm a bit nervous and... super excited.
My goal is to channel Rodney Dangerfield's character from Caddyshack, Al Czervik, and have a blast!
Al Czervik:" Hey everybody, we're all gonna get laid."

Prippy Dreaming... Tacheles
Did you guys read the NYT article about the artist community, Tacheles, that exists in an abandoned Berlin department store?
Absolutely fascinating.
Add to my Dream Trips list checking out the art scene in Berlin... hopefully the artists will still be in this amazing space. Clearly, they're what makes it so special!

Sparkly Things... Lizzie Fortunato
Lizzie Fortunato Jewelry is so my style and definitely prippy... and the creators, twins Kathryn and Elizabeth, even went to my prep school.
These hometown girls made stylishly good, have developed a devoted fashion following and now have collaborated on a line for Madewell.
You can also find these great pieces at select boutiques throughout the country.

Lobster, Bluberries, and Micro Brews...
(Painting by Judith Cheney)
I'm off on a weekend trip to Maine tomorrow - hooray!
Lobster rolls, blueberry everything (beer, ice cream, pancakes, etc.), salt air, rocky shores, and good friends. Basically, I will be in heaven.
In the meantime, check out this amazing blog from a Colby College student that completely drew me in called The Restless Transplant by Foster. Amazing talent and a beautiful tribute to Maine.

Popcorn Worthy... Going the Distance
I just saw a preview for cutey Drew Barrymore's new film, "Going the Distance," and I'm SO excited to get my popcorn on!
Seriously, the premise already has me intrigued... a couple meets with only six weeks left in the same city (NYC) before the girl moves to San Francisco.
When I met my boyfriend, I was living in NYC and had been offered an amazing job in San Fran just as my company was a sinking ship in the sea of the financial crisis. Needless to say, we had many a long talk... and I ultimately made the choice that was best for me by moving to DC.
I can't wait to see how this story plays out!
Have you ever done the long distance thing? How'd it work out?
Delicious, Delicious... Mast Brothers Chocolate
Mast Brothers Fleur de Sel is one of the most delicious chocolate creations of all times. I love dark chocolate, and the salt pushes this over the edge of heavenly.
The handmade goodness is top-to-bottom with this bar... including the gorgeous wrapping.

My Dream Dress...
No... I'm not getting married just yet... But I did see this dress and think "Wow, that would make one hell of a wedding dress!" I think it may even be my dream dress.
I would wear just about anything out of Chris Benz's resort collection, you know, to a party... a wedding... the grocery store... clearly I could go on and on!
Oh, and I love the Babe Paley-esque hair
Video Magic...
Music videos seem as outdated as Sega Genesis (bring back Sonic the Hedgehog!), but when Cee-Lo Green, of Gnarls Barkley fame, decided to cover the brilliant Band of Horses haunting tune "No One's Gonna Love You," I couldn't wait to check it out.
This video beautifully and completely plays out that moment we've all probably been through in the wrong relationship... when we know its over and the highs of love are long gone. Seriously, I could watch this video as a full feature film any day!
Let me know what you guys think... do you relate?
