Delicious, Delicious... Oatmeal Souffle

This morning, I had a breakfast meeting that led to an amazing discovery... oatmeal souffle!

It's such a brilliant idea, and beyond delicious! Oh... and the meeting went well, too.

So, this weekend Bryan is surprising me with a trip to NYC for our one year anniversary (hooray!) celebration - I am thrilled!

He planned the whole thing as a surprise, and I'm just excited to have a whole weekend alone together... let alone what else he's planned!

I've gotta say, time flies when you're with the right guy.

PS ~ I gave Bry this card when we first started dating, and it's still on our fridge!

Cactus Love...

At Bryan's brother's wedding in October, they used cactus in the arrangements, and it was stunning!

I'm loving this bridal bouquet... it's like a Georgia O'Keeffe painting coming to life!

I Can See Clearly Now...

I'm in desperate need for new glasses... thinking of hitting up Selima Optiques when I'm up in NYC next.

They did the fabulous glasses for J. Crew and hopefully they can help me find some perfect frames. I'll certainly keep you posted!

Ball on the Mall... Dressing Up

Ball on the Mall was by far my favorite black tie from last year (and yes... I know that sounded ridic, but it is DC!). And I'm looking forward to it again this year!

The tent is open at both ends, with views of the Washington Monument and the Capitol. The drinks were perfect, the band fantastic, and the crowd enjoyed every moment!


In figuring out what to wear, I've found a few dresses that are under consideration. First up, this white number above. Not sure what it is about this dress, but I keep coming back to it!


This is another option... I'm really digging white for spring and could totally see wearing fabulous aqua marine or turquoise jewelry with a pink lip!


Or this Tadashi Shoji dress. It just screams party to me!

Wine and the Weekend...

This weekend was too quick! I hope you all had a fabulous time!

On Saturday night, Bry and I headed over to a blind wine tasting to help our fantastic friends pick the pinot noir for their September wedding up in Vermont (SO excited already!).


Having never done a real wine tasting, I was worried about not knowing enough... but I know what I like and don't like... and that was all that mattered!

We ended up narrowing it down to 2 bottles... and the winner of the blind taste test was the least expensive! Pretty amazing!

I'd love to do this again with other types of wines and totally recommend this party idea. Who wants to raise a glass?

Ikea... Yogurt and So Much More

Who knew that Ikea has frozen yogurt at the check-out?

I didn't!... but it was definitely a pleasant surprise after an exhausting jaunt around the yuppie modern rooms that are Ikea.


We got an amazing black and white striped rug that I'm completely in love with! Here's the rug in a fabulous apartment (not mine, but hopefully mine someday!).


And of course, we got plenty of other fun stuff... towels, medicine cabinet, New York City map poster, laundry bin, random kitchen tools... and fro yo!

Nice Nails... Chanel Particuliere

Normally I'm a traditionalist when it comes to finger nail color... pale pink or classic red. But recently, I'm obsessed with Chanel Particuliere.

I love the clay color, and think it might be my new perfect neutral for the season!

A woman can always count on Chanel to make them feel beautiful... even when it's just a nail color!
