I Love You, New Orleans

I'm back! What a wonderful, magical trip filled with unexpected adventures and truly amazing discoveries! Every thing was fabulous... but the 2 things that I can't stop thinking about are some of the new friends we made (the Saturn Bar family) and the ridiculously amazing bands we discovered!

I can't wait to share it with you over the next few days... especially since I consider myself a music geek and was blown away by what I experienced with the "Swamp Tech" bands. Just a taste... the above picture is Quintron at the incredible Spellcaster Lodge. If someone hasn't written a novel about this place (or at least a short story!), they should! Like I said... so much more to come!

3 Days Until... New Orleans

Less than 3 days until New Orleans! It would be incredibly difficult for me to be more excited - I love it there and it's also the first real vacation (not wedding or family related) I've had in a long time. Plus, it's a birthday celebration... and I love birthdays!

That picture is praline bacon... how delicious does that sound? I've gotten a lot of great recommendations, and please keep 'em coming!

A Week to Go Until... NEW ORLEANS

So, a week from today I'll be in New Orleans! The trip is a birthday gift for my boyfriend (who's never been) and I'm ready to celebrate! My last time down there was prior to Katrina, when my sister was living there. I can still remember my first time in the city when she was visiting Tulane, where she ended up going. That first visit felt magical - which I know is beyond cliche - but very true. The smell, the buildings, the people, and the overall vibe was unlike anything I'd experienced. Seeing it again, and with my BF experiencing it for the first time, is going to be absolutely amazing!

I'm thinking one of our first stops might be Port of Call. Where do you think the best low-key lunch spot is in New Orleans?
