While not a book to read at first, I've become obsessed with Keel's Simple Diary. This obsession was backed up by reading the Rachel McAdams interview talking about hers in this months Vogue... I love her and haven't even seen "The Notebook!"
Although I've never really kept anything outside of a travel journal, I think documenting your thoughts is pretty spectacular.
This afternoon, I've been cracking up with a friend looking through her college journals. In dreaming of her perfect man at age 18, she noted "Will be daring - willing to try new food, music, furniture, sex positions :)" and "Will be an excellent driver." Very important qualities... too funny!
