Do You Get Childhood Homesick...
Do you ever miss the area where you grew up?
I know it is a romantic thing to do, but I've recently found myself daydreaming about Philadelphia and the beautiful surrounding area.
Philly definitely has personality... and historic homes, cheesesteaks, crazy "passionate" sports fans (go E-A-G-L-E-S), an amazing foodie scene (Federal Donuts = fried chicken, coffee, donuts), nearby beaches, fantastic dive bars, beautiful old clubs, and charming streets that I can wander around for days.
Zillow and Redfin haven't helped me...
And looking up homes in the gorgeous neighborhoods making up the Main Line and Chestnut Hill has provided a bit of a danger in dreaming, especially since the housing market is less competitive than DC.
I'd love to know if this happens to you... and where you're from and where you live now.

Yes, I totally day dream about my childhood surroundings, especially now when not living in the near and have my own children. It takes you back...a bit of nostalgia is good, but too much is exhausting:)
I completely understand! I missed Philly so much when I lived in DC and in New England...
...so much I moved back. The bottom photo is just a few blocks from where I live! There is so much going on here, I love it!
Daydream exhaustion has to be a real thing, right?
So happy I'm not alone in these wistful trips down memory (and real estate!) lane.
And Philly is awesome... I mean really awesome... so no wonder I'm missing it.
KSB - You live in a fabulous area! I love that you came back to the City of Brotherly love... perhaps someday we will meet there.
I grew up on the coast of North Carolina, so it's hard to tell whether I'm homesick for my childhood home or just for the beach. But I think the way I like to show off my hometown — the good, the embarrassing, the delicious, the mundane — is an indication of how much I miss it and how much I want other people to love it as much as I do!
I raise a glass of Cheerwine to the great state of North Caroline!
That would be lovely!
I LOVE your hood, Doreen!
